
On August 29, KUSAF-USA Chairwoman Myeong Hye Kim (English name: Annie Chan) attended the Peaceful Unification Advisory Council (PUAC)'s 21st Chapter meeting at Cheongwadae (former ROK president's office), where she was appointed as an Overseas Executive Committee Member. The Peaceful Unification Advisory Council (PUAC) is a presidential consultative body set up to establish and implement policies on democratic and peaceful unification on a bipartisan and pan-national level.
The ROK President Yoon Suk Yeol attended the meeting in person and delivered the appointment letter to 61 high-level PUAC officials, including Ms. Myeong Hye Kim and the Executive Vice-chairperson Kim Kwan-yong. President Yoon requested the PUAC members to unite people to achieve a peace unification based on liberal democracy.
KUSAF-USA Chairwoman Myeong Hye Kim, being of North Korean descent, has engaged in activities for North Korean human rights and a peaceful unification on the Korean Peninsula. Particularly, she has tried to stop the North Korean regime from its inhumane behavior. Through her appointment as a PUAC Executive Committee member, Chairwoman Kim hopes to contribute to peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula.
