On July 15th, KUSAF-USA met with Rep. Young Kim, a congresswoman of the U.S. Republican Party, at her district office in Orange County, United States. During the meeting, the following topics were discussed:

Importance of the ROK-U.S. Alliance: KUSAF-USA emphasized that the ROK-U.S. alliance has evolved into a comprehensive partnership beyond security cooperation, thus encompassing the realms of economy and society. The significance of the alliance in upholding the values of "freedom" and "democracy" and promoting the national interests of both countries was underscored. There was a shared understanding of the alliance's crucial role in ensuring security on the Korean Peninsula and fostering true peace. Rep. Young Kim, as a Korean American, expressed her support for the foreign policy and unification policies of the South Korean government, actively endorsing KUSAF-USA Chairwoman Kim Myeong-hye's activities as aligning with the national interests of both South Korea and the United States.

Discussion on the Errors of H.R. 1369, the "Peace on the Korean Peninsula Act": Both parties agreed on the importance of addressing both North Korea's "nuclear armament" and "human rights" as integral components of discussions regarding peace on the Korean Peninsula. They acknowledged that the "Peace on the Korean Peninsula Act" does not genuinely contribute to achieving lasting peace. In light of this, Chairperson Kim Myeong-hye announced plans to launch a campaign urging U.S. lawmakers who have supported the "Korean Peninsula Peace Act" to reconsider their support. Additionally, Chairwoman Kim introduced a booklet titled "Quest on the Korean Peninsula" and handed it over to Rep. Young Kim. The congresswoman expressed keen interest in the writings of the 16 experts featured in the booklet.

Counteractions against the "Peace on the Korean Peninsula Act": In response to leftist Korean Americans gathering support for the "Peace on the Korean Peninsula Act," KUSAF-USA invited Rep. Young Kim to its press conference planned on July 26th, 2023, at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. The press conference will feature members of Congress and other Korea experts who will address the risks and dangers of H.R. 1369.

At this meeting, KUSAF-USA highlighted the importance of the ROK-U.S. alliance, discussed the flaws of the "Peace on the Korean Peninsula Act," and expressed readiness to cooperate with Rep. Young Kim to advance counteractions.
